Illocutionary Utterances Containing Prepositions in Last Christmas Film 2019

The purpose of this study is to identify the prepositions used in a film. This is intended to see the use of prepositions as a support for conversation in a speech act. Descriptive qualitative method used in this study. The application of this method is through describing the prepositional data that appears in each illocutionary assertive, directive, and expressive. The source of the data is taken from the last Christmas film using data in the form of dialogue between the characters in the film. According to the findings of this study, several types of prepositions were discovered in the film Last Christmas. Namely since, in, on, at, for, to and beside. it can be concluded that the use of prepositions is primarily intended to clarify something expressed by the speaker. The impact of using of speech act that contains prepositions will provide a more interactive communication.
